Toronto Urban Group 3409 Blend Sounds of the World in New Single “Small Talk”
Man, does it feel like its the rise of collectives this week? Collectives are amazing for growth and creativity, allowing artists to meld their sounds together into a new variant. This week we are checking out “Small Talk”, the brand new single from the dance-pop collective 3409. Born out of a school project between 3 Humber music business, 3409 is a new urban pop band based out of Toronto. Led by multi-instrumentalist Danny Del, producer Izzy, as well as singer-songwriters Dante and Ro tip, 3409 has plenty of subgenres to pull from due to the members’ wide specialization. From nu-disco and house to hip-hop, RnB, and Latin music, 3409 utilize a laid back production method for each artist to channel their creative energy and produce gold. Now one year into their career and five single in the can, we can only continue to listen to see how they grow.
One of the best elements of a collective is that even though you are considered a group, the collective still allows you to be an authentic musician in your own right. For example, this latest 3409 single “Small Talk” is a rather unique beast in terms of sound and production. While the track itself utilizes a blend of house, hip hop, and world music, you can distinctly hear each musician’s own original sound within the whole. There is always a chance that when so many artists collaborate on the same track that one may upstage the other. However, with only a year under their belt, 3409 has moved past that obstacle and seamlessly flow within one another.
