Project 46 definitely isn’t a one of return hit kind of act, letting us know that he’s here to stay…at least for the time being. We were able to head back over to pink pineapple for Project 46‘s latest single “Somebody New” Initially active back in 2011, Canadian duo Ryan Henderson and Thomas Shaw joined forces as Project 46 and uplifted their listeners to look to a brighter future with their melodic tone. Up until 2016, Project 46 was incredibly busy and popular with releases on Ultra Records, Monstercat, Armada, and Mixmash as well as collabs with Avicii, Kaskade, and Paul Oakenfold to name a few. Now, four years after their initial hiatus, Project 46 returns to provide audiences with a flair of golden progressive house.
Finding initial success during the golden age of progressive house, we know that Project 46 has this genre down to a tee. Just weeks after their initial return, Project 46 drops “Somebody New” and continues pushing their house stylings onto the newest generation of EDM fans. With the assistance of fellow vocalist BYNON, “Somebody New” hooked us with its dream-like melodies and bouncy bassline that grows until it bursts. While the beat and production keep us around, “Somebody New” is another example of Project 46’s ability to weave relatable lyrics throughout the track. “I might call you at midnight, hoping you won’t pick up or reply” is one of the most relatable lyrics we have heard in a beat, and reaches out to us in a different way.
