Sweetbreads Shares “Open Mic” Music Video } Debut Album Out September 25th
Sweetbreads blends indie-folk and alt-country with thoughtful storytelling that feels deeply personal without ever losing its universal appeal. Her songs tackle everything from family and relationships to anxiety, hope, and the messy beauty of everyday life, all with an honesty that makes them easy to connect with. Since committing to music full-time in 2020, she’s earned a reputation for heartfelt live shows and has built a supportive creative community while performing at New York staples like Union Pool and Arlene’s Grocery.
Her new double single, “Ben” and “Satisfy,” offers an early preview of her debut album, Punisher of Love, produced by Quinn Devlin. The songs highlight her gift for pairing intimate songwriting with emotional depth, exploring love, identity, and the stories we tell ourselves along the way. She’ll celebrate the release with shows at Nublu and Sleepwalk before heading out on an East Coast tour with Jackqueline Hackett later this year.
Sweetbreads, the project of New York City singer-songwriter Melody Stolpp, shares the official music video for “Open Mic,” directed by Alee Ruggieri. The surreal visual follows a lonely clown wandering through New York City, shifting from a stark black-and-white reality into vivid Technicolor after encountering an angel. The contrast mirrors the song’s exploration of ambition, isolation, hope, and disappointment, capturing the emotional push and pull of chasing a dream while searching for connection and validation.
Blending indie-folk, alt-country, and intimate storytelling, Sweetbreads continues to build the emotional world of her forthcoming debut album, Punisher of Love. Alongside previous singles “Ben” and “Satisfy,” “Open Mic” highlights Stolpp’s interest in relationships, identity, anxiety, optimism, and the stories people create to understand their lives.
