Sweetbreads Share New Single Release “Open Mic” | Debut Album Out September 25th

Her new double single, “Ben” and “Satisfy,” offers an early preview of her debut album, Punisher of Love, produced by Quinn Devlin. The songs highlight her gift for pairing intimate songwriting with emotional depth, exploring love, identity, and the stories we tell ourselves along the way. She’ll celebrate the release with shows at Nublu and Sleepwalk before heading out on an East Coast tour with Jackqueline Hackett later this year.

I felt kind of pathetic and self-involved chasing what seemed like a dying dream. Watching my friend struggle made me think about my own obsessions and addictions, and the things we all cling to in order to escape reality.”
Sweetbreads, the project of New York City singer-songwriter Melody Stolpp, returns with her haunting new single “Open Mic,” the latest preview of her debut album Punisher of Love, arriving September 25. The song was sparked by watching a close friend struggle with addiction while waiting hours to perform at an open mic, leading Sweetbreads to question her own relationship with music and the things people cling to in order to escape reality. Blending indie-folk, alt-country, and deeply personal storytelling, “Open Mic” continues to showcase Sweetbreads’ gift for writing with empathy and honesty, offering another compelling glimpse into an album centered on family, relationships, anxiety, hope, and the complicated beauty of everyday life.
