Salin Shares New Single “Prayer For Isara” Off Tame Film Soundtrack

Thai-born, Canada-based artist, drummer, and composer Salin is quickly establishing herself as an exciting force in contemporary jazz and global music, blending jazz, soul, funk, and international influences into a sound that refuses to be confined by genre. Her adventurous approach to rhythm and composition has earned her recognition across the music industry, including being selected as one of six artists for CBC’s Revelation Canada in 2025, alongside cover features on TIDAL’s Best New Jazz and Spotify’s Fresh Finds Jazz playlists. Her acclaimed album Rammana earned a nomination for Global Music Album of the Year at the 2026 JUNO Awards, attracting international attention from NPR, BBC Radio, CBC’s Q with Tom Power, La Presse, and Bandcamp, which named it Album of the Day. Standout track “Current” reached No. 3 on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Jazz – Best of 2024, while “Si Chomphu” gained traction on Thailand’s Cat Radio and Los Angeles’ KCRW.

Since 2024, Salin has taken her music across North America, Europe, and Asia, delivering several sold-out performances and appearing at prestigious venues and festivals including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, Tokyo’s Cotton Club, Montreal International Jazz Festival, and New York City’s Winter Jazzfest. With her dynamic musicianship, genre-blurring creativity, and growing international following, Salin continues to make her mark as one of the most promising voices in modern jazz.

“After I had a meeting with the director, where he revealed the synopsis of the movie to me, I could already hear the melody and lyrics. The whole song came to me naturally and I knew then that I have to compose this song.”

JUNO-nominated Thai-born, Canada-based artist, drummer, producer, and composer Salin returns with her haunting new single, “Prayer For Isara,” the official soundtrack for the Thai horror film Tame. Set in a bull-fighting village in Sukhothai, the film follows a young girl desperate to escape the oppressive control of her grandmother and uncle, turning to ancient rituals and a sacred shrine in hopes of reclaiming her freedom. Drawing inspiration from the film’s unsettling narrative, Salin explores themes of liberation, spirituality, and resistance, with isara, the Thai word for freedom, serving as the emotional foundation of the composition. Musically, the track takes inspiration from pi-phat mon, a traditional Thai ensemble often associated with funeral ceremonies, bringing an eerie, culturally rooted atmosphere to the film’s supernatural themes. Salin explains that the melody and lyrics came to her almost immediately after hearing the film’s synopsis, making the composition feel like a natural extension of the story.

Serving as the lead single from her forthcoming 2027 EP, “Prayer For Isara” marks another exciting creative direction for Salin following the international success of her JUNO-nominated album Rammana. Blending traditional Thai musical influences with cinematic storytelling and contemporary production, the single showcases her versatility as a composer while offering a compelling glimpse into the next chapter of her evolving sound.
