Ravenscoon Dips His Toes in Downtempo in New “Translucent” EP, Out Now on SSKWAN!
When you’re riding high on your biggest year to date, you need to keep that momentum plowing forward. On our latest visit to SSKWAN we are checking out Translucent, the latest drop from Ravenscoon. Born in Georgia but now based in San Francisco, CA, Paul Conversano’s love of electronic music continues to flourish with whatever genre he happens to dive into that day. While he has become known for combining elements of hip-hop, punk rock, and death metal through the medium of experimental bass, no genre stone goes unturned once Ravenscoon steps into the booth. While this unique blend can be found in his original works, his highly popular mixtape series allows him to flow in and out of genres with ease. Already making a statement this early on in his career, Ravenscoon has no plans of slowing down and we take the industry by force.
“Translucent is my take on some of my favorite melodic bass music – wave, hard wave, future garage, and downtempo. I’m currently in the midst of writing my debut album and I found myself with a handful of beautiful tracks that just didn’t quite have a place. I revamped them, rearranged them, and livened them up to be a cohesive wave-esque EP that provides a refreshing relief to my previous dubstep EP COLLIDE that dropped in December on WAKAAN.” – Ravenscoon
Definitely no stranger to us at Modern Neon, Ravenscoon has been absolutely on fire lately with his near-continuous string of releases. Consisting of three separate WAKAAN EPs and two stand-alone singles, it was only a matter of time before Ravenscoon came knocking on the sister label’s door. Consisting of four brand new tracks, Translucent is the result of the growth of Ravenscoon’s novelty downtempo side…now with more added liquid and flux. Translucent, while in-line with the downtempo and liquid styles featured out SSKWAN, is a complete departure from Ravenscoon’s signature bass-heavy bangers. However, Ravenscoon plays in his experimental sandbox and creates an entirely unique sound just for him…a melting pot of garage meets wave music. Not many artists have the chance to play around and have a pair of outlets that are primed and ready for experimentation, so we hope to hear other facets of Ravenscoon in the future.
