Psych-Rockers Elephant Stone Release Orchestral Short Film “Hollow” and Deluxe Edition of 2020 Album

When you are in the position to create a rather unique project based upon your already accepted material, you know you have to take advantage of that opportunity. On our latest visit to our neighbors up North we are checking out “Hollow”, the brand new short film from Elephant Stone. Based out of Montreal, this modern psy-rock band was created by musician Rishi Dhir as a different creative outlet. After performing with bands such as The Datsons and The High Dials, Dhir discovered his love for the sitar and telling his personal experiences, thus giving birth to Elephant Stone. Dhir quickly made a name for himself as a renowned sitar player, collaborating with the likes of Beck, and legendary cult bands like The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Black Angels, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, The Dream Syndicate, and many more. Elephant Stone has been active since releasing their first album in 2009, and with their new EP on the horizon, fans of psych-rock need to take notice.

Easily one of the standouts from our trip into the world of psych-rock, Elephant Stone continues to surprise us literally every time they slide into our inbox. While we were completely won over by their previous release, this time we are going back to 2020 to their Hollow album for a brand new deluxe edition with a twist. Re-introducing the album to their wider audience, Elephant Stone also released the entertaining and beautifully animated short film of the same name directed by Laurine Jousserand. “Hollow” is a post-apocalyptic story about humanity’s search for an Eden after running Earth into the ground. Exploring themes such as loss and grief, existential crisis and rebirth, the film utilizes an orchestral rendition of Side A of the album, allowing Elephant Stone to showcase their music in a new light. If you love psych-rock and science fiction like we do, you need to check out “Hollow” and share it with your community. We need more eyes on this film.
