LAMMPING Announces “Never Never”, A Sonic Reset Featuring Bloodshot Bill

The deeper we dive into this psych-rock pool, the more we are starting to realize that Canadian rock bands might just be leading this current wave. On our latest visit to our Northern neighbors, we are checking out “Never Never” the last single from Lammping. Only taking true shape in the last few years, Lammping was founded by singer/songwriter Mikhail Galkin and drummer Jay Anderson in a chance meeting. After bonding over their mutual music influences on a night where both of their previous bands shared the playbill, Galkin and Anderson recruited guitarist Matt Aldred and bassist Scott Hannigan. No stranger to Toronto’s underground scene themselves, Lammping set one clear goal in mind…to combine and unite their drastically different sounds under the psych-rock banner. Since forming the band has released two albums, 1 EP (with another one on the horizon), and are making their way to the top of the Toronto psych-rock scene.

“‘Never Never’ was the first song that came out of this series of sessions, and it felt like a reset. I was getting back into sampling, digging through records, pulling loops, then flipping them into songs. There are certain voices that always stood out to me. I always liked Bloodshot Bill’s voice and how he manipulates it and felt it would be a really cool instrument, so to speak, to feature on our stuff. It’s pretty harsh at times, but then he can drop it super low when needed. It generally has this animated feel.”

Toronto psych-rock outfit LAMMPING return with “Never Never”, a gritty, genre-smashing collaboration with Montreal rockabilly wildman Bloodshot Bill, via We Are Busy Bodies. The track previews their upcoming album Never Never, out June 27—the first in a planned four-album arc set to roll out over the next year. The project marks a bold leap for the band, fusing psych-rock with sample-heavy hip-hop textures inspired by frontman Mikhail Galkin’s past life as DJ Alibi and recent remix work for Badge Époque Ensemble.

The collaboration sparked during a spontaneous Toronto studio session with Bloodshot Bill, whose raw vocals brought a wild-card energy to the project. What began as one song quickly grew into several, built around Jay Anderson’s breakbeat-style drumming, lo-fi samples, and live jam sessions. The result is a fuzzed-out, time-warped blend of East Coast hip-hop grit, rockabilly swagger, and psych-rock sprawl—a collision of eras and styles that sets the tone for LAMMPING’s most expansive chapter yet.
