Protocol Recordings Drop New Remix Package For Nicky Romero’s “Only For You”

Remixes are as commonplace as original tracks in the electronic music world and some even become more popular than the original. This week’s first visit over to Protocol we have a brand new remix package for the latest Romero and Sick Individuals drop “Only For You”. Romero is one of the modern producers to change and mold today’s electronic music scene how he sees fit. Not only has he founded one of the most prolific modern electronic music movements, but he is also constantly on DJ Mag’s Top 100 list year after year and has attributed heavily to the global spread of electronic music. Romero continues to surprise us, even dropping a mini-doc series back in 2019 and multiple successful releases now that he’s back on the wagon. Hell, he even put on one hell of a performance at the London opening of the Call of Duty League eSports tournament!

However, even though Romero could be one of the Midas’s of electronic music, his cohorts this time around are nothing to dismiss. Sick Individuals have reached millions of ears with their original works, as well as remixes for powerhouses like David Guetta, Moby, and Avicii. While hailing from The Netherlands, Sick Individuals have dropped tracks on influential imprints such as Revealed Recordings, Spinnin’ Records, and Interscope just to name a few. These two have been movers and shakers on the live festival circuit as well, leaving exhilarating performances at Tomorrowland, Electric Zoo, and Ultra Music Festival.

While we aren’t the biggest fans of remix packages for a recent drop, Protocol’s latest drop completely changes our minds. While the original “Only For You” was a carefully crafted progressive house gem, each remix in this release drastically alters the track in an interesting way. The package opens with the Tennyson remix, which slows everything down to create more indie and chill approach to the track. That chill doesn’t last long, however, as Bass Modulators pop right in afterward to bump up the BPMs for their hardstyle rendition. The energy doesn’t slow down, as the Futuristic Polar Bears step right in afterward to provide us with a big room house take that we have definitely fallen in love with. Once the big room energy dies down, Low Blow wraps up the package with a groovy underground house version that we can’t help to dance along to. Four remixes and four drastically different interpretations. Which is your favorite?
