Protocol Goes Hip-Hop? New Track "Devil in Disguise" by Marc Benjamin & JPB Ft. Syon & Yung Fusion

Every so often, a label needs to step back and take a chance on a track or an artist that they wouldn’t normally cover. Anyway, this week we have “Devil in Disguise”, the latest from Protocol newcomers Marc Benjamin, JPB, Yung Fusion, and Syon. Protocol decided to dive headfirst into the world of hip-hop, which comes off as odd coming from a house and electro-oriented label. While Nicky Romero led Protocol Recordings has always been on the front lines of showcasing upcoming music artists, it’s refreshing to see even Protocol breaking their protocol (#sorrynotsorry) to try something new. Bravo.
As Protocol’s most recent excursion into hip-hop, “Devil in Disguise” has a bit of a candle to hold a light to. The track is a fantastic example of modern electro-hop, bringing forth the best elements of electronic music and hip-hop directly into the foreground. The combination of JPB and Benjamin’s electronic basslines and melodies with Yung Fusion and Syon’s rhythmic vocal work takes the track to the next level. “Devil in Disguise” will continue to break the modern genre rules and prepare to craft their own standard, well done.
