P.E.I.’s Absolute Losers Revive East Coast Power-Pop Spirit with Hook-Heavy New LP In The Crowd
Charlottetown’s Absolute Losers are back with their second album In The Crowd (Sept 26, 2025), and it feels like a big step up without losing the scrappy charm that made their debut so fun. Where At The Mall was raw and wiry, this one stretches out into jangly guitars, big harmonies, and hooks that stick around after the first listen. It’s still rough around the edges in the best way, but the production from Graham Walsh gives it this wide-open feel—like the songs suddenly have more room to breathe.
The band also loosened up in how they wrote it. All three members—Sam and Josh Langille and Daniel Hartinger—take turns singing, which gives the record a different kind of personality, almost like flipping through three variations of the same story. You can hear that playful spirit in the upbeat tracks, but also in the more reflective ones, like “You Never Say That You Love Me,” which has this sun-faded, bittersweet quality to it. Instead of the anxious energy of their first record, the songs here wrestle with connection, nostalgia, and growing up without taking themselves too seriously.

It’s an album that feels both familiar and fresh, like something that could’ve come out on a ’90s Sloan record but also belongs right now. More than anything, In The Crowd sounds like a band having fun again—leaning into the melodies they grew up on, finding their stride, and proving that being “losers” might actually be what sets them apart.
