Olivia Prado Reveals New Single “Up n Down” | New EP ‘Dirty In The Sand’ Out 8/26
Originally from California’s Bay Area and now based in Los Angeles, Prado blends the nostalgia of early-2000s pop with the intimacy of modern R&B, creating a sound that feels both familiar and distinctly her own. Inspired by artists like Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Rihanna, and Britney Spears, alongside contemporary acts such as Erika de Casier and Oklou, her music explores themes of confidence, womanhood, joy, and self-expression through polished melodies and groove-driven production.
A performer since childhood, Prado began singing, dancing, and acting in musical theater at just five years old before writing her first songs at age ten. After studying abroad in Sydney during college and experiencing the loss of her father, she committed fully to pursuing music. Over the past seven years, she has built her career independently, overseeing everything from songwriting and creative direction to marketing, visuals, and release strategy.
“This song was inspired by movement, dance, and groove. I actually wrote it while dancing around my apartment. I wanted to create something that makes you feel confident and empowered without trying too hard. To me, it feels cool, stylish, and unapologetically feminine.”
Today, Los Angeles-based pop-R&B artist Olivia Prado returns with her new single “Up n Down,” the latest glimpse into her upcoming EP Dirty In The Sand, arriving August 26. Built around warm production, infectious rhythms, and Prado’s effortless charisma, the track captures the playful confidence and magnetic energy that define her artistry. Following her 2024 debut album Liv Laugh Love, Prado continues to expand her sonic world with Dirty In The Sand, a project that explores the emotional highs, challenges, and discoveries that come with love and intimacy. Featuring previously released single “Temptation” alongside “Up n Down,” the EP showcases Prado’s ability to blend nostalgic pop influences with contemporary R&B while carving out a sound entirely her own.
