Nicky Romero Lures Listeners To An Underground Club In New House Single “Acid Is My DNA”
As a creative, sometimes you have to take a step even further back in your career to revisit styles you’ve put out to pasture. On our latest visit over to Protocol Recordings we are checking out “Acid Is My DNA”, the latest drop from Protocol’s label boss Nicky Romero. Romero is one of the modern producers to change and mold today’s electronic music scene how he sees fit. Not only has he founded one of the most prolific modern electronic music movements, but he is also constantly on DJ Mag’s Top 100 list year after year and has attributed heavily to the global spread of electronic music. Romero continues to surprise us, even dropping a mini-doc series back in 2019 and multiple successful releases now that he’s back on the wagon. Hell, he even put on one hell of a performance at the London opening of the Call of Duty League eSports tournament. Romero’s list of accomplishments keeps growing, now including a brand new partnership with Fader Pro and a release of his own NFT collection!
There are only a handful of artists/producers where we have to stop and double-take every time they drop a track or announce a project because simply they will take the chance to try something out of the norm. Primarily known for his mega-hits in the progressive house world, Romero strips that signature sound away and throws it back to his “Generation 303” days. Taking Romero’s music out of the festival setting and throwing it into a dark, underground club, “Acid Is My DNA” is a hard-hitting bomb that is primed and ready for the dance floor. Overflowing with high levels of energy, intense buildups, and driving bass, this single will easily set clubs ablaze once they reopen to the masses.
