Nicky Romero & GATTUSO x Jared Lee Kick Off 2022 With Uplifting Hopeful Single “Afterglow”
When you lead one of the most prolific labels in the EDM world, you need to start a new year with a bang. On our latest visit over to Protocol we are checking out “Afterglow” from Nicky Romero, GATTUSO, and Jared Lee. Romero is one of the modern producers to change and mold today’s electronic music scene how he sees fit. Not only has he founded one of the most prolific modern electronic music movements, but he is also constantly on DJ Mag’s Top 100 list year after year and has attributed heavily to the global spread of electronic music. Romero continues to surprise us, even dropping a mini-doc series back in 2019 and multiple successful releases now that he’s back on the wagon. Hell, he even put on one hell of a performance at the London opening of the Call of Duty League eSports tournament. Romero’s list of accomplishments keeps growing, now including a brand new partnership with Fader Pro and a release of his own NFT collection!
Now with so many talented artists attached to this track, we’d be drastically disappointed if we didn’t bask in this “Afterglow”. The first single to come from Protocol’s label boss in 2022, this single screams classic Romero but with GATTUSO’s modern polishing. “Afterglow” explores themes such as hopefulness and resilience, giving listeners a positive mindset going into the rest of 2022 while also letting us lose ourselves in Jared Lee’s soulful vocals. “Afterglow” has actually been in Romero’s backlog for quite some time now, with it originally being teased during the Avicii Tribute Concert back in 2019 and then again appearing during his 2021 EDC Las Vegas set. If this is the kind of momentum that we should expect Romero and the rest of the Protocol crew going into 2022, we have high expectations.
