New York Alt-Pop Act Eighty Ninety Drop Chill Music Video For “More Than Friends”
As the pop world because more and more saturated, the alt-pop world is growing just as fast and vibrant. On our latest dive into the New York indie space, we have a brand new music video for Eighty Ninety’s latest single “Better as Friends”. Bursting onto the scene back in 2016, Eighty Ninety hit the ball right out of the gate with their debut single “Three Thirty”. Quickly after its initial release, the single reached #2 on Spotify’s Global Viral Charts and they seized the opportunity to drop their full EP Elizabeth. Now snagging over 25 million streams online, the Eighty Ninety catalog was even selected by Taylor Swift for her official Spotify playlist “Songs Taylor Loves”.
When we first checked out “Better as Friends” back when it dropped in October, we knew the track absolutely needed the right music video to accompany it. A breezy blend of chillwave production and adult contemporary pop music, “Better as Friends” puts the outstanding talents of both brothers out on full display. The music video isn’t glamourous and jaw-dropping, yet completely fits the vibe and tone to match the original track. As the lush arrangements, decadent melodies, and addictive chorus draw us in once again, we can’t help but yearn for the next drop in the Eighty Ninety catalog.
