Just because the world currently has the blue screen of death, this isn’t holding creative artists like today’s back from making music. This time we are taking another trip north for Falling, the latest EP from Canadian producer Fonkynson. Currently hailing from our neighbors in the great white north, Fonkynson has been growing in the modern future bass scene and cultivating a grassroots audience. Originally falling in love with classics like Jimi Hendrix and Rolling Stones, Fonkynson soon discovered the world of house music and dove in headfirst. Finding moderate success with his first EP back in 2008, Fonkynson continues to walk the path many have strolled down before him. He later followed up this EP with his debut album #Followme which further pushed Fonkynson into listeners’ rotations all around the world. In just a few days, #Followme reached the top of The Hype Machine and added hundreds of thousands of plays to Fonkynson’s repertoire.
When you are still relatively early on in your career, it is important to experiment and dabble in other ends of the electric pool. Taking Falling as a chance to further dabble in the world of future house, Fonkynson may have found his exact sound. The stand out track on Falling is easily “Giving U Up”, a pure example of what Fonkynson has learned so far as a producer. With the assistance of Desiire & Kôsa, Fonkynson carefully crafted an upbeat and sexy house track that almost feels like we’re being transported back to the disco era. Falling is a fantastic drop from this rising producer and we can’t wait to hear his next project. Fonkynson, keep killing it!
