Manu Grace Navigates Love, Grief and Self-Discovery on New EP ‘Oh Man, I’ve Done It Again?’

South African singer-songwriter, artist, and producer Manu Grace blends poetic storytelling, catchy melodies, gentle grooves, and a playful sense of humour to create music that feels both intimate and universally relatable. Born and raised in Cape Town’s Southern Peninsula and now based in London, Grace draws from her experiences across continents to explore the complexities of relationships, identity, vulnerability, and personal growth. Her distinctive sound weaves together alternative pop, indie, soul, and subtle electronic influences, balancing emotional honesty with infectious hooks and thoughtful lyricism. Her artistry has earned her two South African Music Award nominations, including Best Alternative Music Album and Female Artist of the Year, alongside international recognition from Zane Lowe, who selected her single “Two Weeks” as a World First on his radio show.

Beyond the studio, Grace has established herself as a captivating live performer, supporting acclaimed artists including John Cale, Alex G, and Maya Hawke across UK and European tours while performing numerous headline shows of her own. With her effortlessly charming personality, evolving production style, and ability to find beauty and humour in life’s messier moments, Manu Grace continues to emerge as a compelling voice in the international alternative music scene.

South African singer-songwriter, artist, and producer Manu Grace explores the messy, unpredictable nature of love, loss, and personal growth on her new EP, Oh Man, I’ve Done It Again?. Blending her signature poetic storytelling, infectious melodies, gentle grooves, and self-aware humour, the project chronicles her romantic misadventures, from unrequited love and infatuation to the fear of commitment and the contradictions of human connection. Beyond its emotional themes, the EP marks a significant evolution in Grace’s creative process, as she moved away from releasing songs as they were written and instead carefully selected material from a larger collection. Recorded, re-recorded, and refined over several years, with remote collaborations alongside Robin Brink and Ross Dorkin spanning Cape Town, Berlin, and London, the project helped Grace develop greater confidence in her production instincts and artistic vision. Through the experience, she learned to trust her ears, make difficult creative decisions, and take greater ownership of her music.

At the emotional heart of the EP is focus track “Can You See Me?”, one of the first songs Grace wrote following the death of her father and a deeply personal reflection on grief, identity, and rediscovering purpose. Written shortly after moving to London, the song emerged during a period when she felt disconnected from music and questioned the ambitions that had brought her there. Despite reluctantly attending a writing session, Grace found herself reconnecting with her creativity and unexpectedly wrote one of the project’s most meaningful songs that day. Describing the track as “a bridge between who I was prior, and who I’ve become since,” she captures the profound ways loss can reshape a person’s identity while highlighting the healing power of artistic expression. Together, the EP’s playful romantic reflections and vulnerable moments of introspection reveal an artist embracing life’s emotional contradictions with newfound confidence, honesty, and creative independence.
