150608103918-jurassic-world-training-780x43922 years after the original Jurassic Park failed, the new park (also known as Jurassic World) is open for business. After years of studying genetics the scientists on the park genetically engineer a new breed of dinosaur. When everything goes horribly wrong, will our heroes make it off the island?

So what is our take on Jurassic World you didn’t ask? Jurassic World certainly gives the task a swimming good try to be the followup/reboot that Jurassic Park needed. I actually enjoyed many of the performances from the main cast, but I would not have picked Chris Pratt for the leading role. The ending is actually quite sincere and happy-go-lucky, which adds to the more upbeat tone of the film. Did I mention the CGI? By far the best part of the entire film, as the dinosaurs look absolutely phenomenal. At least they got that right.JURASSIC-WORLD-15-1940x1042

Don’t worry guys, this is definitely not the last Jurassic Park review you will be seeing here at Media in Review. Well unfortunately I was not a fan, as the film in its entirety was spoiled for me by a friend who saw the film on opening night. I did finally get around to seeing it, and it definitely didn’t blow me away. The plot was meh at best, as it was trying way to hard to be Spielberg’s Jurassic Park instead. I mean sure, in prep it could have been a decent idea, but in execution, I believe they missed the mark. Not by much, but it was definitely missed. I would have been much more satisfied with an entirely new film marking the reboot of the series.

PROS:

  • Main cast performance.
  • Sincere ending.
  • Light tone.
  • Amazing CGI.

CONS:

  • Disappointing plot.
  • Too much homage to Jurassic Park.
  • Missed the mark.

SCORE: 6.0 / 10

  • I enjoyed Jurassic World, but I was not blown away by it. It didn’t have the epic feel that Godzilla (2014) had. The film is interesting to me because of the relationship between Owen and Claire. The only reason I went to see it is because so many feminists were critical of it. I wrote a short post on the film called “Why a Woman Needs a Man.” If you would like to read it, here is the link: https://christopherjohnlindsay.wordpress.com/2015/06/23/jurassic-world/
