JULITH Finds Power in Truth on Debut EP ‘This is a Kindess”
Artistically, JULITH is known for pushing beyond traditional boundaries, crafting immersive and intentional music that blends insightful songwriting with bold sonic experimentation. With her debut EP This Is A Kindness, she expands both her sound and identity, challenging personal and creative limits while continuing to evolve as an artist. The project reflects an ongoing process of self-exploration and transformation, positioning her work as both emotionally honest and sonically forward-thinking.
Beyond music, JULITH is a survivor who actively channels her lived experience into advocacy work, volunteering with nonprofit organizations that support individuals navigating sexual assault and domestic violence reporting. She is also deeply involved in mental health and substance abuse advocacy, with this work closely mirroring the emotional themes present in her music. Rather than existing separately from her artistry, her advocacy directly informs it, grounding her songwriting in real-world experience, empathy, and a commitment to support and healing.
“It follows my journey to where I am now—speaking on the abuse, standing in my truth, and calling on others to stand up for one another and themselves. The title came from an episode of Doctor Who, where robots on a quarantine planet repeat the phrase ‘do not be alarmed, this is a kindness’ before shooting a lethal dart. The dart will save you from the plague that has ravaged the planet, but it will still kill you first. That sentiment summed up this project beautifully. It is painful, it is angry, it is cathartic—it’s burning down what I knew and building something new from the ashes. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is tell the cold hard truth.”
LA-based artist JULITH introduces her debut EP, This Is A Kindness, a seven-track project that includes the previously released singles “JAB!,” “Pure Spite,” “Cut From The Sequel,” and “Right From Left,” along with three new songs. The EP marks a creative rebirth following her transition from performing under her birth name, Julia Pratt, into a new artistic identity rooted in radical honesty, autonomy, and emotional self-exploration. Across the record, JULITH blends vulnerability with intensity, using deeply personal storytelling to explore themes of pain, resilience, and transformation.
At its core, This Is A Kindness examines the complexities of the female experience, particularly the ways abuse and harm against women and children are often normalized or overlooked. Through unflinching lyricism, JULITH reframes that pain into something communal and cathartic, balancing accountability with healing and self-reclamation. The EP ultimately positions kindness not as softness, but as truth-telling and clarity—an ongoing process of confronting trauma while reclaiming agency and identity.
