Jordan Patterson Debut LP The Hermit Out Now, Shares Focus Track “Hey Mama”

Jordan Patterson, the North Carolina-born and LA-raised artist, has emerged as a striking new voice in the alternative scene, blending blunt honesty with raw emotional depth. With roots in theater at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and a brief stint at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Patterson ultimately returned to Los Angeles to fully embrace music. Since then, she has become a regular presence at venues like El Cid, Genghis Cohen, and Permanent Records Roadhouse, while also collaborating with producers across the U.S. and London to refine her distinct sound and artistic vision.

2025 has marked a turning point in her career, highlighted by a sold-out opening slot for Geese’s Cameron Winter at Barnsdall Gallery Theatre that earned her a standing ovation, and another for the rising Australian act Folk Bitch Trio. Her latest single “God” brought her acclaim from Rolling Stone, Stereogum, and The Fader, as well as a feature in Spotify’s Lorem and Friends newsletter. With additional support from The Line of Best Fit, KCRW, and Nina Protocol, Patterson is quickly becoming a breakout artist defined by fearless performances and songs that resonate far beyond her LA roots.

“My mom and I have been through thick and thicker together. In my darkest moment, the thought of her reminds me that grace dreams, in its purest form, are worth desiring and already exist in my own life. My grandma Hazel gave my mom, and then my mom gave me the single most important thing: love.”

LA-based songwriter and producer Jordan Patterson is set to release her album The Hermit, a project that serves as a culmination of her artistic journey rather than a debut. Building on the diaristic lyricism and lo-fi inventiveness of her earlier work, the album reflects a deepening of Patterson’s craft, vision, and self-trust. Entirely self-written and co-produced with JEHU and Eric Van Thyne, The Hermit has already earned support from Spotify playlists like Fresh Finds, Lorem, and Editors’ Picks: Best Songs of August, as well as coverage from Stereogum, FADER, NME, and One’s To Watch.

Ahead of the album, Patterson released focus track “Hey Mama,” a sunlit, folk-infused exploration of growing up and moving forward. The song balances whimsical, radiant vocals with sorrowful, reflective lyrics, highlighting Patterson’s signature ability to merge levity with emotional depth. With its fiddle-forward instrumentation and intimate storytelling, “Hey Mama” offers a glimpse of the emotional and sonic range of The Hermit, solidifying Patterson as a bold and visionary voice in contemporary alternative music.
