Jordan Patterson Announces New Project The Hermit Out September 19 | Shares Single + Video “Racecar”

Jordan Patterson, a North Carolina-born and LA-raised artist, channels catharsis through her alternative sound, blending raw honesty with cinematic imagination. With roots in theater from her time at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and a brief stint at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Patterson eventually returned to Los Angeles to fully commit to music. Since then, she has become a fixture in the city’s live scene, performing regularly at venues such as El Cid, Genghis Cohen, and Permanent Records Roadhouse, while also collaborating with producers across the U.S. and in London.

2025 has marked a breakthrough year for the rising songwriter. She opened for Folk Bitch Trio at a sold-out LA show, received acclaim for her single “God” from outlets like Rolling Stone, Stereogum, and The Fader, and was highlighted in Spotify’s “Lorem and Friends” newsletter. Earlier releases also drew support from The Line of Best Fit, Nina Protocol, and KCRW. In February, Geese’s Cameron Winter invited her to open his sold-out LA show, where she earned a standing ovation from a stunned crowd. With each milestone, Patterson solidifies her reputation as one of LA’s most exciting and fearless new voices.

“Choosing a home is more than a place or even people. Home is like a little star in your chest and whenever it feels, it can come out and shine in the darkest of places and relationships. ‘Racecar’ is my journey to community and a real home.

LA-based songwriter and producer Jordan Patterson is set to release her latest project, The Hermit, independently on September 19. Described as her most fully realized work to date, the project explores the intersections of grief, self-discovery, and spiritual longing, blending hushed folk, ambient textures, and intimate songwriting. Entirely self-written and co-produced with JEHU and Eric Van Thyne, the album showcases Patterson’s haunting, clear-eyed vocals and a mature, introspective perspective that invites listeners into her personal and emotional world.

Accompanying the announcement is the dreamy single “Racecar,” featuring the children of close family friends on background vocals. The track contrasts youthful innocence with Patterson’s reflective tone, exploring the idea of home as an inner light rather than a physical space or people. With The Hermit, Patterson delivers a deeply personal statement while inviting listeners to reflect on their own journeys toward belonging and self-understanding.
