Indie Songwriter YutaY Releases Surreal Electronica Single “Fever Dream”
With the ease of pushing your music out into the ether, we are seeing a major rise in the indie world from artists all across the genre. On our latest peek into the indie world we are checking out “Fever Dream”, the latest single from YutaY. The moniker of LA-based indie artist Alex Utay, YutaY has been making waves in the indie music world of Los Angeles, even though he’s early on in his career. Pulling from a rather strange mixture of influences such as The Strokes and Skrillex, YutaY spends plenty of time in production everyday at his computer, mashing together his influences until he strikes gold. YutaY’s debut single “Run” caught the attention of indie music tastemakers, proclaiming that it is a perfect indie-electronica introduction to YutaY’s core sound.

We cover plenty of rising indie artists on Modern Neon, especially now that more and more artists are coming out of the woodwork with their own twists on familiar styles. However, when YutaY popped into our inbox, we knew that we would need to dive into this “Fever Dream”. While YutaY only has a few singles under his belt, he clearly has the markings the be an absolute force to be reckoned with. Thriving in this current indie-electronica wave, “Fever Dream” gives us strong Tame Impala vibes…until it takes a direct right turn into the pop world instead of rock. YutaY’s version of a post-modern anthem of love and confusion, “Fever Dream” is not just addictive…it makes us want to put YutaY front and center for his debut EP, The Uncanny Valley, when it drops in early March 2022.
