As the 2019 festival season creeps ever closer, you know we couldn’t kick off the season without heading over to Miami. As is tradition, Nicky Romero’s Protocol Recordings have dropped their brand new Protocol Vibes – Miami 2019 EP to showcase a bit of their work over the last year. Protocol has often been on a forward-thinking campaign to take the modern industry by storm, and Protocol has become well known for showcasing unique and talented younger artists in this effort. If you want to check their work out live, you can catch Nicky Romero’s headline performance at Ultra Music Festival on March 29th. For those who can’t make it, it will also be live streamed. Make sure you check it out!
Now that Protocol Vibes – Miami 2019 is finally released, you can tell that Protocol’s lineup this year is a blend of classic sounds we have heard years prior as well as a bit of this 2019 newer sound that we have become used to hearing. One of the artists featured on this EP, Marcus Santoro, gives us a taste of the classic progressive Protocol sound in his remix of Romero’s “My Way”, serving as a quick reminder of what we fell in love with in the first place. However, we don’t want to dabble in the past too long as we are treated to a more funk-centric and slapping style with “Bring It Back” and “LMS”, giving listeners a clear picture of where this movement is headed. Protocol, keep surprising us, will you? We will be waiting.
