Experimental Virtual Perfection Cowboy Reveals New EP, ‘Energy Mirror: The Prelude’
We’re all for experimental acts, but even we weren’t ready when we experienced today’s artist. On our latest peek into the experimental EDM world we are checking out “Energy Mirror: The Prelude”, the newest EP from Virtual Perfection Cowboy. Dash Lunde, born and raised in the heart of New York City, embodies a true artistic spirit shaped by his upbringing and diverse musical journey. Starting with bass and guitar at a young age, Lunde’s path led him through various bands like Chromatic Springs and collaborations with artists like Rachel Ana Dobken and Littlefoot, where he honed his skills and graced stages across the country, including notable appearances at events like SXSW. Alongside his musical pursuits, Lunde’s talents extend into the realm of film, where he’s showcased his knack for composing and sound design, leaving his mark on projects like the short film Breakdown.
In 2019, Lunde embarked on a new creative endeavor with Virtual Perfection Cowboy, initially born out of personal experimentation. Since then, it’s blossomed into something beyond just music, evolving into a full-fledged multimedia experience. With the release of the ‘Quantum Random Transmutation’ EP in 2021, Lunde crafted not just a collection of songs, but an immersive journey accompanied by virtual art installations, inviting listeners into a world where sound and visuals intertwine. Looking ahead, Lunde aims to take this experience even further by bringing these virtual creations to life through live multimedia art shows, promising to inject new life into New York City’s cultural scene.
“‘Energy Mirror: The Prelude’ is the first tease of the ‘Energy Mirror’ album which tells the story of a godlike being — The Dancer — who must incarnate in a human body to win a dance competition to save the universe. This first EP is meant to set the stage for the diversity of instrumentals that will be heard throughout the album, which draws on the history of dance music – disco, house, techno, drum & bass, etc. – and combines it with VPC’s trademark sounds.”
