Experimental Pop Artist MINDY Releases Pop Ballad “Nervous Shudders” + Debut EP & AR Experience!
After the last year that the world experience, the second half of 2021 is opening creative doors for many artists to introduce their sounds to the masses. On our latest peek into the indie world we are checking out “Nervous Shudders”, the latest single from MINDY. Stepping out into the professional music world just a few months ago back in May of 2021, MINDY is already setting the stage for her voice to be heard. No stranger to the music scene, MINDY started off her journey as a solo artist after co-founding Night Dreamer and working with producers Lior Goldenberg (Alanis Morisette, Macy Gray, Allen Stone) and Josiah Mazzaschi (Soko, The Jesus Mary Chain, Warpaint’s Jenny Lee), and Tristan Calder (Kill The Computer). Through MINDY’s experimental musical catalog, MINDY explores the concepts of the conservative ideology of her religious upbringing and breaking away from loneliness and despair. She introduced these concepts in her first music video “Am I Alive” where she injured herself during her performance.
‘Nervous Shudders’ is about my personal rejection of traditional relationships. After being told to stop playing music and to stay at home to “have children,” by close family, I wrote this song as an honest confession. Not everyone fits neatly into the square of monogamy and marriage. So I decided to keep making music as I pursue an honest relationship with myself.” – MINDY
Let’s face it, it is a well-known fact at this point that you have to embrace the unordinary when you go down an experimental rabbit hole. MINDY’s “Nervous Shudders” blends traditional alt-pop and electropop beats into an experimental pop ballad mixture that surprisingly works in sync. Eerily melancholic yet hopeful, the track and accompanying music video showcase MINDY’s core concept of breaking out of the hole that loneliness tries to trap you in, regardless of the consequences that wait for you once you reach the apex. This is only the latest taste we have from the MINDY camp, with MINDY’s debut EP Version 1.27 dropping back on Friday 7/23. In support of “Nervous Shudders” MINDY and her team created an augmented reality art installation in Los Angeles that definitely seems like an interesting experience.
