ETHNO Prepares Full Debut EP With Gravitas, Drops Surreal World Bass Single “Leaf Water”

While we’ve been mainly spending our time with electronic music this summer in the clubs, we still have been keeping an eye on the experimental scene. On our latest visit over to Gravitas we are checking out “Leaf Water”, the latest single from ETHNO  Heavily steeped in the rich tapestry of global rhythms and guided by Jeffrey’s profound passion for musical diversity, ETHNO emerges as a captivating embodiment of cross-cultural resonance. Renowned as the rhythmic heartbeat behind the innovative electronic maestros, Thievery Corporation, Jeff infuses novel vitality and a contemporary essence into the timeless realm of terrestrial vibrations. A harmonious convergence of influences from the enchanting landscapes of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and South America converges within the intricate web of rhythms and melodies, interwoven with opulent textures and pulsating basslines that serenades and invigorates every fiber of your being.

As the melodies unfold, an unmistakable aura of wanderlust emerges, a direct reflection of the countless journeys Jeffrey has embarked upon alongside Thievery Corporation. This ethereal cosmopolitan approach defies temporal constraints, bridging eras to bestow upon the world an authentic auditory mosaic that echoes the spirit of future world music. ETHNO’s live performances are nothing short of a magnetic voyage, characterized by an energizing fusion of danceable global-electro sounds, intimately entwined with the vivacious pulse of live percussion, sculpting an unparalleled sonic expedition that has ignited audiences across the expanse of the nation.

Recent collaborations with Gravitas and Westwood Recordings have showcased Jeffrey’s prowess as a remixer, paving the way for ETHNO’s forthcoming debut EP, anticipated to grace auditory landscapes later this year. ETHNO serves as an aural testament to Jeffrey’s holistic ethos, where life’s interconnectedness is celebrated rhythmically, sonically, and spiritually. In this philosophy, the celebration of existence and the symphony of existence are harmoniously intertwined—life a boundless dance of joy, and music the jubilant conductor orchestrating unity amidst diversity. Through ETHNO, Jeffrey transmutes his profound understanding of this universal truth into an enchanting symphony of boundless joy, exemplifying the timeless axiom: “We are all connected, rhythmically, sonically, and spiritually. Life is fun, music is fun, and we can connect people and cultures through our most joyous contribution, music. One Love.”

“Leaf Water is one of my favorite songs I have ever written. The sound embodies an organic approach to electronic music production that I value very deeply. Using a combination of analog synths and live performance, I was able to blend the sounds to create a completely unique sonic environment. Every time I hear Leaf Water or play it, I take a pause, because music for me is therapeutic and the compositional elements of Leaf Water seem to ring my bells from past, present and future influences. It truly is a musical composition with sounds representing so many beautiful aspects of life and culture. The name of the song aligns with the sound of the song. The imagery for me is a tropical rainforest gulch, full of bioluminescent water droplets rolling from leaf to leaf, dancing their way through the vegetation, hydrating the bountiful ferns and jungle leaves along the way.” ETHNO
