Brooklyn Duo Eighty Ninety Explores Loss and Love in New Single “Happier”

Every musician has their strengths, and expert storytellers can push past a simple production. This time around we are taking a look at “Happier”, the latest single from the talented duo Eighty Ninety. Bursting onto the scene back in 2016, Eighty Ninety hit the ball right out of the gate with their debut single “Three Thirty”. Quickly after its initial release, the single reached #2 on Spotify’s Global Viral Charts and they seized the opportunity to drop their full EP Elizabeth. Now snagging over 25 million streams online, the Eighty Ninety catalog was even selected by Taylor Swift for her official Spotify playlist “Songs Taylor Loves”.

There are so many people we love and miss that we can’t be with, and a lot of late-night calls to try and bridge that distance. We all want the best for the people we love. Sometimes, that means letting each other go. ‘Happier’ is about wanting to hold on for just a little bit longer.” – Eighty Ninety

While Eighty Ninety could just be another indie-pop duo and follow the current trends, this duo wants to move ahead on their own path. “Happier” focuses on the ever common feeling of loneliness and loss, using the duo’s skills with storytelling to transition the meaning to one filled with hope and love. Eighty Ninety’s storytelling is the main key to their success but no one needs to tell them twice. Backed up by a minimal pop production and a melody that we can’t help to sing along to, “Happier” shows how far Eighty Ninety has grown since 2016. For fan’s of soft pop and can’t help but fall for a solid story, keep an eye on these two.
