Duos Krewella & Yellow Claw Join Forces For Nostalgic “Rewind”…Remember Normal Times?
Sometimes when a collab drops, there are times when there are simply too many cooks in the kitchen. However, this is simply not one of those times. On this nostalgic trip back we have “Rewind”, the latest collab between duos Krewella and Yellow Claw. Bursting immediately onto the scene all the way back in 2012, Krewella appeared out of nowhere with their debut Party Hard album. The album, which now has over 130 million streams, is home to their now-certified platinum single “Alive” that has served as an introduction for many to the Krewella sound. These sisters have continued to explode since, with major hits like “Live For the Night” and “Enjoy the Ride”. Fun fact, Krewella has even nailed a coveted spot on Forbes “30 under 30” list. Makes multiple international tours seem a bit dull in comparison.
Bursting onto the scene way back in 2013, Yellow Claw has been changing and molding the modern look of bass music. First popping up on our radar with their first major hit “DJ Turn It Up”, Yellow Claw‘s blend of hip-hop and club music has dominated playlists throughout clubs worldwide. With the success of that track and “In My Room”, Yellow Claw has gained over 300 million streams just from those two tracks alone. Back in 2015 Yellow Claw‘s debut album Blood for Mercy even won the Dutch equivalent of a Grammy. They haven’t slowed down even the smallest bit, with multiple global tours that have been further injecting Yellow Claw into the bass music industry.
While this isn’t Krewella & Yellow Claw‘s first collaboration, originally joining forces for “New World” back in 2017, they absolutely nail it this time around. Essentially a tribute to how the past continues to mold our future, “Rewind” makes us long for normal times even when they feel so far in the past. Bursting out of the gate with Krewella’s powerful vocals, the single balances Krewella’s uplifting big room feeling with just the right amount of Yellow Claw dubstep to not overpower one another. If you need a single to absolutely grab you and melodically lift you up, embrace the “Rewind”. Accompanied by a trippy yet aesthetically pleasing music video that will win over those who are till toeing the line.
