Dubstep Icons Doctor P and Flux Pavilion Release Self-Titled Long-Awaited First Collaborative Studio Album. 15-Track Body Of Work Highlighting Their Over 20-Year-Long Friendship. Out Now on Circus Records
Doctor P, co-founder of Circus Records, is a bass music pioneer whose influence reshaped the electronic music landscape. Starting as a teenager jamming on drums and guitar, he found his breakthrough with the release of “Sweet Shop” on MySpace, a track that became a staple in DJ sets worldwide and a defining anthem of early dubstep. Since then, Doctor P has continued to push boundaries, collaborating with artists like Dillon Francis, Far East Movement, and Method Man. His dynamic remix work for Ganja White Night, Example, and others further solidified his reputation as a versatile producer with a forward-thinking approach to bass music.
Flux Pavilion, also a Circus Records co-founder, is known for his genre-bending sound and seismic basslines that helped catapult dubstep into the global mainstream. Drawing early inspiration from The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers, he developed a unique style that blends melody and raw energy. His hits like “I Can’t Stop” and “Bass Cannon” have become festival staples, earning him headline slots at Coachella, Glastonbury, and more. Constantly evolving, Flux Pavilion has collaborated with Excision, Zeds Dead, and Jessica Audiffred, while his electrifying live shows—where he sings and plays multiple instruments—showcase his unparalleled creativity and musicianship.
“We’ve been working together on music for over 20 years, so much so that we have developed our own language in the studio (kind of like how a group of friends develops its own lore over the years). In 2010, that language found a voice in dubstep, and it resonated with a massive community. Doctor P and Flux Pavilion were born, but we’d been playing those characters since we were kids. It was always our passion to find the sense of adventure in our music, moments of drama and moments of humour, side by side. So we wanted to write an album that not just encapsulates who we are right now but who we have been for our entire lives. In one moment, it’s a serious body of work, and in the next, it’s two friends messing around on computers. In truth, our message has always been – ‘why not both?’ A lot of the time, the simplest parts of life are lost in the complexities. This album celebrates one of those universal truths: life is meant to be fun.” – Doctor P & Flux Pavilion
Doctor P and Flux Pavilion’s long-awaited self-titled debut album is a landmark moment in bass music, encapsulating over two decades of friendship and collaboration. As co-founders of Circus Records, the duo has been instrumental in shaping dubstep, and this 15-track release is both a tribute to their roots and a bold step forward. Blending cinematic soundscapes, crushing basslines, and playful experimentation, the album moves effortlessly from the euphoric highs of “Feel Good” to the gritty, chaotic energy of tracks like “I Luv It” and “Vegemite.”
More than just a collection of songs, the album cements their legacy as both pioneers and innovators. Their influence on the genre is undeniable, and with this project, they prove they’re still pushing boundaries. To celebrate, they’ll take the stage for an exclusive back-to-back set at Ultra Music Festival in Miami on March 30, delivering a high-octane performance that bridges their past, present, and future.
