Caroline Romano Releases New Single “The Hypothetical”, Continuing Her Pop-Punk Transformation
As the world of altpop grows, many subgeneres are coming back out of the woodwork and finding their homes once again. On our latest peek into the indie world we are checking out “The Hypothetical”, the latest single from Caroline Romano. A self-proclaimed “loudest sort of introvert“, at a meager 19 years old Caroline has written here way into the altpop movement of this generation. Since dropping her initial single back in 2017, she already has a handful of singles under her belt and racked up over a million streams online. This single follows her previously released “PDA of the Mainstream”, which marked her transition from indie bedroom pop over to the alternative pop-punk scene. We aren’t the only ones taking notice, as Caroline’s quick rise in the alt pop world has garnered support from tastemakers like Hollywood Life, American Songwriter, and Just Jared.

If anything, we are glad to see that after what feels like forever, punk music is seeing the sunlight once again from the underground via the modern alt pop scene. “The Hypothetical” is a fun and witty pop punk number, where Caroline steps in as the voice of her generation and highlights the hypothetical fun romance that we all experience. Nothing is serious, everone is infatuated with each other, and it is simply enjoyable. “The Hypothetical” lets you know almost immediately what kind of song it is, quickly developing into an angst-filled head banger filled to the brim with distorted guitar and rapid percussion. Caroline’s tongue-in-cheek and witty lyrics are the cherry on top, making “The Hypothetical” an enjoyable pop-punk number perfect for alt pop fans.
