Carnage & Prinze George Craft Hauntingly Minimalist Dubstep Track “Slot Machine”

Just because you stay a bit behind the scenes for the first half of the year doesn’t mean you can’t blow that last half out of the water. Starting off our trip we bound on over to Carnage’s home label, Heavyweight Records, for his second release of the year “Slot Machine”. This Vegas-based producer made himself a pioneer in the hard bass and trap communities, finding his strive quickly. Carnage was even one of the first major artists to incorporate hip-hop elements into his work, creating a hard bass and urban style. Carnage went on to create Heavyweight Records in 2017, surrounding himself with crazily unique producers in the hardcore and hip-hop genres.

We’re going to be honest, when we first heard “Slot Machine” we didn’t think it was a Carnage track. While the track makes its dubstep influences well known within the drops, the haunting vocal work from Prinze George changes the entire dynamic! The minimalist instrumentals that follow with Prinze George’s sections are beautiful and eerie, capturing exactly every single essence of emotion from the vocal work. That doesn’t last forever however, as Carnage is determined to throw that minimalism out the nearest window and push you head first into his mechanical dubstep trap. While the two styles differ drastically, the combination surprisingly works and feels fresh.
