Sometimes there is that moment as a musician that you meet another artist and find that both of your styles just click in place. Digging around in our indie bubble we came across “Run”, the latest track from the band TANDM. After lead vocalist and guitarist Maxine Beck-Sinderby ran into drummer Thomas Franklin in high school at a music studio, these two musicians knew they had to make music together. Now formed under the TANDM moniker, the duo would go on to record two EPs as they explored their sound, Reflections Vol. 1 and Reflections Vol. 2. As TANDM began to find success on the local level, they even snagged features on BC Radio, and City TV’s Breakfast Television Toronto.
As the young band continues to explore their sound, they decided to pick their five favorite songs in their library and re-release them as Reflections: Remastered, including the single “Run”. While during early live performances the focus wasn’t on instrumentals, TANDM has since found their signature sound and created an energy that only TANDM can embody. Utilizing Maxine’s silky vocal performances over minimalist guitar riffs, TANDM allows the energy of their performances to be led by Franklin’s drum flourishes and captured by the audience. The band explores the complexities and struggles of life through their tracks, like anxiety and overwhelming responsibilities in “Run”. While TANDM may not be eye-catching or earwormy on your first listen, their sound will fine their way into your rotation one way or another.
