Badlands Announces new ‘ Nobody Dies’ LP, Shares Title Track + Video “Nobody Dies” Today
The woman behind the moniker, Catharina Jaunviksna, found her love for creating music early on in her life. Finding herself intrigued by DIY genres like punk and hardcore, it wasn’t until her teenage years that she discovered synths and sampling. Jaunviksna began her music career working in the filmmaking world crafting scores when she finally discovered her own musical identity. She became a touring musician on synths and keys for The Radio Dept. and founded Badlands in 2012. Since conception, Jaunviksna has attuned herself with the electro community in Dublin, Ireland, and even opened her own studio in Malmo.
“‘Nobody Dies’ is the title track of the album. It was born from a fleeting encounter and the weight of a moment shared between two people on the edge. Their story lingered with me – fragments of their words, a certain silence between them – and I tried to capture that feeling. The rest is open.”
Swedish producer and composer Badlands (Catharina Jaunviksna) has announced her fourth studio album, Nobody Dies, set for release on October 10 via her RITE label. The album draws from a longing for raw, human expression, blending old string instruments with electronic scrap to create lo-fi ballads that feel both intimate and apocalyptic. With themes of authenticity and disconnection in a fragmented world, the project embraces imperfection, crafting a sound that’s textured, emotional, and hauntingly real.
Alongside the announcement, Badlands shared the album’s title track and video, “Nobody Dies,” which premiered via Magnet Magazine. The ethereal single captures a fleeting, heavy moment between two lost souls, wrapped in ghostly strings and cinematic ambiance. Inspired by a real-life encounter and featuring visual work by collage artist OSKARP—who also designed the album’s artwork—the video mirrors the song’s emotional depth, layering memory, silence, and surreal beauty into a tactile, dreamlike experience.
