Alt-Pop Producer Mixed Matches Drops 3rd Self-Released Album “With You”, Atmospheric Pop!
While we may have taken a few steps into the light as of late, the darker alternative side keeps pulling us back in. On our latest peek into the alt-pop world we are checking out with you, the latest album drop from alt-pop musician mixed matches. Hailing from Tampa Bay, this LA-based musician is the alternate moniker of producer Ed Barrios. Pulling inspirations from the likes of My Bloody Valentine, Diiv, Bjork, Radiohead, Passion Pit, Bon Iver, and Duwap Kaine, mixed matches uncovered his sound at the crossroads of indie, synth-pop, R&B, shoegaze, Soundcloud underground, and ambient. Originally introducing this sound back in late 2018 with his first three EPS, mixed matches has since self-released three albums since his first full-length album in 2020.
While we know that alt-pop can sometimes be difficult to dive into head-first, mixed matches’ latest album is easy and welcoming…as long as you’re open to exploring more serious themes in your music. His most mature and seasoned project yet, with you takes his alt-pop meets synth-pop sound and uses it to create a subtle alluring effect for fans of the genre. The album itself explores concepts such as broken relationships, drug use, and loneliness, topics that may be difficult for some to digest as they are so prevalent in our society today. However, music has always been a vehicle to tackle difficult conversations and subject matter and mixed matches embodies those conversations in this album. For fans of atmospheric-pop with a tinge of a dark side, with you and mixed matches will wet your appetite.
