ZOLITA Enters New Era With Single & Video “Hell’s Belles”
Zolita has built a career on a kind of intentional duality—softness and control, intimacy and spectacle, confession and fantasy all coexisting in the same frame. Over the past decade, the Los Angeles-based artist has carved out a space as one of pop’s most distinct independent voices, not just because of her music, but because of the fully realized worlds she builds around it. Each era feels like a chapter in an ongoing narrative, where songs play like scenes and visuals function as extensions of the emotional core rather than decoration.
Raised between coasts and shaped early by both bluegrass guitar and a fascination with film, she developed a cinematic approach to songwriting while studying at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. From the beginning, she’s maintained a strong sense of creative control, using self-directed visuals and narrative-driven releases to explore queer intimacy with honesty, complexity, and care. Across projects like Immaculate Conception, Sappho, Evil Angel, and Queen of Hearts, she’s expanded a cohesive artistic universe that moves between myth, diaristic detail, and emotional spectacle, earning critical attention and building a loyal fanbase alongside sold-out shows and festival appearances.
“The ‘Hell’s Belles’ video was inspired by the six years I spent inside a kundalini yoga cult. It’s my way of processing the experience through humor, fantasy, and pop spectacle.”
Zolita launches a bold new era with “Hell’s Belles,” a country-tinged pop track that blends her cinematic instincts with a playful, self-aware edge. Built on contrast, the song reworks familiar bro-country energy through a sapphic lens, turning it into something more intimate and subversive. Written with Gatlin, it also sets the sonic and thematic foundation for her upcoming project—leaning into contradiction, reinvention, and the stories she’s gathered from “southern bad girls” over the years.
The accompanying video expands that world into a campy, seductive thriller, following a detective who goes undercover at a girls’ reform camp that slowly reveals itself as a cult-like space. As she’s pulled deeper in, the line between investigation and obsession dissolves, driven by a charismatic central figure played by Tatiana Ringsby. Featuring a cast of LGBTQ+ creators, the visual builds a heightened world of sisterhood, power, and desire, continuing Zolita’s ongoing practice of turning music videos into immersive, narrative-driven universes.
