Yellow Claw Celebrates 10 Years of Their Iconic Album “Blood For Mercy” with Remastered Anniversary Edition and New Remixes. Out on Mad Decent
Yellow Claw, the dynamic Dutch DJ and record production duo from Amsterdam, has been a formidable force in the electronic music scene since their formation in 2010. Originally a trio, the group now comprises Jim Taihuttu (Jim Aasgier) and Nils Rondhuis (Nizzle), following the departure of MC Bizzey in 2016. Their innovative sound seamlessly blends elements of trap, hip-hop, dubstep, hardstyle, and moombahton, captivating audiences worldwide. Their debut album, Blood for Mercy (2015), not only topped Billboard’s Heatseekers and Top Dance/Electronic Albums charts but also earned them an Edison Award, the Dutch equivalent of a GRAMMY. The album’s standout track, “In My Room,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Tyga, and DJ Mustard, has garnered over 160 million Spotify streams.
Beyond their musical achievements, Yellow Claw has established a distinct brand identity, known for their sophisticated stage outfits and powerful live performances. In 2014, they founded their own label, Barong Family, fostering emerging electronic talent and further solidifying their influence in the industry. As they continue to push creative boundaries, their heavy beats and cinematic vision have become a perfect match for the entertainment world, ensuring their lasting impact on the global music landscape.
“Many of the songs on ‘Blood For Mercy’ are a testament to the time we came up when the trap genre was first making waves and inspired us greatly. It was first done in the US, and from that moment on, it was our goal to go there. It all started when we saw the DJs there play our songs. Not long after, we got booked to play shows ourselves. That was just off of our Soundcloud stuff. When we got our break, we focused on doing a full album to show people we were more than just Soundcloud producers and be able to make a full body of work. It’s good to note that at this time, the only thing you heard in clubs and festivals was big room house. That’s what it was all about. People at labels even told us: “why don’t you make big room? It’s much easier to get big.” But we followed our hearts instead and did what we thought was fucking cool. And yes, that was very, very new and insecure, but it was more exciting than following the herd. Now it’s been almost 10 years, and around the time its anniversary comes up, the genre is making a huge comeback. Young trap artists are emerging and getting big. We did 6 huge b2b shows with Flosstradamus, paying homage to the genre back in 2024, plus we are gearing up for a full trap North America tour in March 2026.” – Yellow Claw
Yellow Claw celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their groundbreaking debut album Blood For Mercy with a fully remastered edition, out October 17 on Diplo’s label Mad Decent. Originally released in 2015 during the first global wave of trap, the album captured the raw energy of the era with standout tracks like “In My Room” featuring Ty Dolla $ign & Tyga, “Catch Me” with Flux Pavilion, “Lifetime” with Tiësto and Kyler England, and “Nightmare” featuring Pusha T and Barrington Levy. Emerging from SoundCloud uploads and inspired by artists like Skrillex, RL Grime, Diplo, and Flosstradamus, Yellow Claw made a bold statement: they weren’t following trends—they were creating a new sound that blended trap, big-room, and bass music in an unapologetically daring way.
A decade later, Blood For Mercy remains a defining moment in electronic music. With trap experiencing a resurgence and a new generation of artists drawing from its influence, the remastered edition hits harder than ever, proving the album’s lasting impact. What began as an underground movement has since reshaped the global bass scene, solidifying Yellow Claw’s status as innovators and tastemakers who helped push the boundaries of electronic music.
