“Weird Al” Yankovic Celebrates Ten-Year Anniversary of Mandatory Fun with All-New Polka Medley “Polkamania!”
It’s time for us to take a trip down memory land. On our latest peek at the comedy world we are checking out “Polkamania!”, the latest from “Weird Al” Yankovic. “Weird Al” Yankovic is the biggest-selling comedy recording artist in history. A beloved American treasure and pop culture icon, he is renowned globally for his artist-approved parodies of massive hits from the last four decades. His repertoire includes parodies of songs by Madonna, Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson, Usher, Nirvana, Eminem, Queen, Lady Gaga, and many more. Yankovic has garnered 5 Grammy awards and 17 career nominations. Remarkably, he is one of only three artists to have charted in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 in each of the last four consecutive decades, alongside Madonna and Michael Jackson.
Beyond music, Yankovic is also an accomplished actor, writer, and producer. In recognition of his contributions to entertainment, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018. His 2022 release, WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, which features Daniel Radcliffe portraying Yankovic, earned him an Emmy Award, further cementing his legacy as a multifaceted entertainer and cultural icon.

To celebrate the ten-year anniversary of his groundbreaking album Mandatory Fun—the first comedy album to debut at #1 on the Billboard albums chart—“Weird Al” Yankovic has released a new single and video titled “Polkamania!” This medley reimagines some of the biggest hits of the last decade in Yankovic’s signature polka style. Songs featured in the medley include Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers,” Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy,” Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” Adele’s “Hello,” and Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” with approval from each artist.
“Polkamania!” also features an “anijam” video, a collaborative effort from a dozen animators and filmmakers, weaving together vibrant short animated pieces. Contributors include Yankovic’s longtime collaborators Bill Plympton, Liam Lynch, Ghostbot, Jarrett Heather, and Augenblick Studios, as well as new collaborators like British animator Cyriak and Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne Medrano
