Twin-Brother Duo MC4D Seamlessly Blends Folk, Country and Dance Music Into Catchy ‘Folktronica’ Genre with Their Highly-Anticipated Debut EP “Wanderings” Out Now as MC4D’s Self-Release. How Western Roadtrips Led a Dance Duo to Break the Mold of Today’s EDM
Twin-brother duo MC4D has become a defining force in the “folktronica” movement, blending country, folk, and EDM into an irresistibly fresh sound. Their 2024 highlights include the viral Down Under Mix series, which topped SoundCloud’s U.S. dance charts, and remixes of artists like Zach Bryan and Noah Kahan, earning over 20 million streams and tens of millions of social media views. Their official remixes for stars such as Kesha, Steve Aoki, and Flo Rida have further cemented their reputation, contributing to an impressive 25 million total streams. Their relentless touring schedule this year, including the Call It Fate Tour and Two Lane Tour, has showcased their high-energy live sets, with performances at festivals like Stagecoach and EDC Las Vegas, captivating audiences across North America.
Inspired by the dramatic landscapes of national parks and the energy of the dance floor, MC4D’s music bridges cinematic, acoustic beauty with vibrant electronic beats. Their sound is as suited for a drive through the Rockies as it is for a headline nightclub set, carving a distinct niche in modern dance music. With high-profile collaborations and a major support tour lined up for 2025, the duo is solidifying their status as genre innovators and must-see performers.
“The ‘Wanderings‘ EP is a representation of not just the sonic landscape we’ve built with our ‘folktronica‘ sound, but also of the many travels we’ve been so lucky to experience in 2024. About a year ago, we made the decision to only release music in 2024 that truly felt like us, combining the indie, folk, country, and electronic genres we pull inspiration from. That led us to develop our folktronica style, ranging from our country-leaning ‘Travel On‘ single to folk-leaning single ‘Be Here With Me Now‘. We love how the EP encompasses a range of styles, from red-dirt country to Avicii-inspired anthemic folk, while still feeling like a cohesive project. Additionally, we aimed for the songs on the EP to reflect the incredible landscapes we visited in 2024, including Joshua Tree, Banff, the Colorado Rockies, and many more. Our goal is to build a unique brand of dance music that conjures the freedom, openness, and wonder that these places inspire, and our ‘Wanderings‘ EP is the first step in that process.” – MC4D
