Toronto’s WASTING TIME Channel 90s Pop-Punk Glory on “Ripped Blue Jeans”

Toronto’s Wasting Time continue to build momentum as one of Canada’s most driven melodic punk bands. Influenced by scene staples like Alkaline Trio, No Use For a Name, MxPx, Blink-182, and Green Day, the four-piece has spent years honing a sound rooted in urgency, melody, and emotional honesty. Since forming in 2017, they’ve released five EPs, multiple singles, and three full-length albums, including their latest record Hurry Up and Wait via People of Punk Rock Records. Known for their high-energy live shows, the band has toured extensively across Canada, Japan, and Korea, and shared stages with acts like Smoking Popes, Mad Caddies, and Unwritten Law at major festivals such as Pouzza Fest and Canadian Music Week.

Now gearing up for their next chapter, Wasting Time are preparing to release their upcoming album Are You Out Of Your God Damn Mind? in 2026. The first taste arrives with the new single “Ripped Blue Jeans,” dropping December 12, setting the tone for what promises to be their most confident and fully realized release yet. With a growing international presence and a reputation for relentless energy, the band shows no signs of slowing down as they continue to push melodic punk forward.

Toronto’s melodic punk mainstays Wasting Time return with “Ripped Blue Jeans,” a high-energy, heart-on-sleeve single arriving via People of Punk Rock Records. The track taps into the raw spirit of late-’90s punk—sweaty basement shows, burned CDs, and the kind of anthems that felt like lifelines—while delivering the band’s signature blend of urgency, melody, and emotional grit. It’s a song built on nostalgia without feeling stuck in the past, capturing the rush of youth and the simple power of loud guitars and shared moments.

Following their latest album Hurry Up and Wait, “Ripped Blue Jeans” serves as the first taste of Wasting Time’s upcoming full-length Are You Out Of Your God Damn Mind?, due next year. Mixed and mastered by Matt Gauthier at Arc Studios, the track reinforces the band’s role as torchbearers of melodic punk—honoring the genre’s roots while pushing it forward with renewed purpose, conviction, and volume.
