Toronto-Based R&B Singer KIANA Releases New Music Video for “wait on me”, A Cinematic Tribute to Women

On our latest peek into the R&B world we are checking out “wait on me” the latest KIANA. KIANA is a Toronto-based R&B artist known for her soulful and moody soundscapes that explore themes of heartbreak and personal growth. Her music, influenced by her unique Persian and Dutch background, has gained recognition on radio stations and in her hometown. Throughout the video, their yearning for each other is palpable as they call out in desperate longing. The female lead, portrayed by KIANA herself, becomes the embodiment of resilience and cunning. Her character seizes a moment of opportunity, captivating the attention of a prison guard and building an electrifying sexual tension. In a daring act of bravery, she cunningly acquires the guard’s knife, symbolizing the empowerment of women who refuse to be held back by oppressive forces.
The narrative is inspired by a real-life Iranian couple whose lives were forever altered after a viral video depicted them dancing joyfully in front of Iran’s Freedom Tower, an act deemed defiant by the authorities. This gripping tale unfolds in the heart of Tehran, Iran, but it’s portrayed in a dystopian, sci-fi rendition of the city, lending an intriguing and surreal atmosphere to the video. KIANA’s creative vision, along with the director Sina Dolati’s love for slasher and horror films, led to the incorporation of a 90s film style for the final scene, infusing the video with an exhilarating and cinematic quality that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.
