The Widdler Takes Us on Cosmic Journey Through Many Facets of Dubstep with 43-track Debut Album “Zero G.” Out Now on Ganja White Night’s SubCarbon label

While Dubstep has taken many forms over the years, it has been an interesting creative playground for those willing to dive in. On our latest visit to SubCarbon we are checking out the massively large debut album ‘Zero G’ from The Widdler. The Widdler is a pioneering figure in dubstep, renowned for his dedication to perfecting his craft through daily mixing sessions, which translate into flawless, immersive live performances. His music spans a wide range of influences, from the relaxed, reggae-infused dub sound to the heavier, bass-driven beats, creating a dynamic and engaging listening experience. Known for his versatility, he skillfully blends genres and moods, ensuring each set is fresh and unique.

Whether crafting chilled-out atmospheres or menacing bass-heavy rhythms, The Widdler consistently delivers a sonic journey that resonates with a diverse audience. His ability to merge various influences into a cohesive sound makes his music both meditative and powerful, inviting listeners to fully immerse themselves in the dubstep experience.

This album has been a long time coming. I’ve notoriously sat on a whole bunch of music for years and I thought it was time to let it go. My main goal for the album was to showcase the different facets of what dubstep can be. The dark, brooding tracks invite you into introspective spaces, evoking a sense of isolation and self-reflection. These are the ones produced at 3am in a dark smokey room just soaking up the space and vastness of being alone at night. On the other hand, the party tunes are all about letting loose and embracing the moment with unapologetic, ignorant fun. Throw some silly samples in front of a wonky drop and I’m sold. A few of the songs aren’t dubstep at all but, in my mind, sit at the same table at lunchtime. Still being driven by full bass, they are more melodic and I’ve always had fun exploring outside of 140. This album gave me a chance to sprinkle a little bit of those sounds you won’t hear from me at a live show but are still a big part of my production life. In the end, this music is an extension of myself and my journey of figuring out my style leading up to this point.” – The Widdler
