the_fallMetropolitan Police Superintendent Stella Gibson, a senior investigating officer tasked with the reviewing of investigations, is seconded to the Police Service of Northern Ireland in order to assess the progress of a murder investigation that has remained active for longer than 28 days. When it becomes apparent a serial killer is on the loose, local detectives must work with Stella to find and capture Paul Spector, who is attacking young professional women in the city of Belfast.

Surprise! We have yet another Netflix original (or exclusive, not exactly sure anymore) for you! Another one of BBC’s fantastic crime short series made viewable to us via the great Netflix gods, The Fall is entertaining yet difficult to watch. The main cast performances, particularly Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan, are incredibly on point and easily personify each of their respective characters. Their cat and mouse chase is obviously the main focus of the series and it is incredibly enjoyable to watch while hoping Specter gets away.

The-FallI do have to warn you now, the series is incredibly slow moving. Lengthily spread over 11 episodes and two mini series (more like seasons), it could have easily been cut down to one series spanning six episodes. It took me an incredibly long time to watch it, easily growing bored after a mere two episodes. While the series as a whole is one of the better BBC dramas I have seen on Netflix, it lacks due to poor pacing.

PROS:

  • Main cast performances.
  • British drama.
  • Cat and Mouse game.

CONS:

  • Length
  • Pacing

SCORE: 7.5 / 10
