TEKE::TEKE & Mirah Share Covers Honoring the Insane Legacy of The Clash For International Clash Day!
Who knew that a creative act like TEKE::TEKE would find themselves on a tribute to The Clash? In celebration of International Clash Day earlier this week, we are checking out “Bankrobber” from TEKE::TEKE. Originally formed as a tribute band for the legendary Takeshi Terauchi, TEKE::TEKE discovered their chemistry and quickly chucked their original cover sets out the window and adapted to a new sound. Based out of Montreal, TEKE::TEKE combines elements of traditional Japanese ballads with Brazillian psychedelic rock and punk music to make an original sound that only TEKE::TEKE could craft. Consistently fighting against genre norms and expanding their boundaries as musicians, TEKE::TEKE has created a magically terrifying musical universe that deserves the grow and envelop the world. Let the chaos ensue. “Meikyu” is the latest single off their upcoming debut album Shirushi, which will be dropping in full on May 7th. TEKE::TEKE even performed in a slot during this year’s SXSW Online festival!
TEKE::TEKE and Mirah are part of this brand new compilation titled “Hearts & Minds & Crooked Beats,” featuring The Clash covers set to release on International Clash Day. The compilation aims to benefit the International Rescue Committee, with contributions from diverse artists such as The Dandy Warhols, Smokey Brights, Seán Barna, Julia Massey, and more. TEKE::TEKE infuses their cover of “Bankrobber” with their eclectic spaghetti western flair, promising a unique and captivating interpretation. Simultaneously, Mirah, accompanied by Erica Freas and Karl Blau, lends her signature baroque twee production to “I’m Not Down” from the iconic London Calling album. Beyond celebrating The Clash’s musical legacy, the compilation serves a charitable purpose, uniting artists for a meaningful cause on International Clash Day, blending musical innovation with philanthropy.
