Singer Songwriter Zack King Is Back With 1st Single of 2021, Infection 90s Pop Single “Butterfly Face”

There is something about summer indie-pop singles with minimal production that just hits us the right way. On our latest peek into the indie world we are checking out “Butterfly Face”, the latest single from Zack King. Born and raised in Minnesota, Zack King was one of those children who were absolutely obsessed with music throughout their childhood. Even though this fascination with music would continue to grow and blossom as he grew older, it wouldn’t be until after graduating college that he turned it into a professional career. In 2020 King released his debut album Mess, a collection of songs that focused on the struggles of everyday life, relationships, and molding yourself into the person that you want to become. With Mess putting King on the indie-pop radar, he returns in 2021 with an upcoming five-track EP that will cement his nostalgic musical style in stone

“Have you ever met someone that’s opened your eyes to the world around you? Someone who shows you how beautiful this world can be, and all of its endless possibilities? Someone who takes the gray out of your dull skies, and replaces them with happiness and hope? ‘Butterfly Face’ is about meeting that special someone that sets you free. When you see her, you feel like you’re able to finally break out of your shell, or open up from your cocoon; like a butterfly,” – Zack King

Alright, we have to come clean…we are absolutely suckers for this kind of nostalgic pop music. Yeah, we know they say Millenials love nostalgia, and this time they are right. Heavily inspired by the works of bands like Matchbox Twenty, King’s “Butterfly Face” oozes the charm, innocence, and singability of 90s (near-acoustic) pop music. The single was not only crafted to be perfect for summer playlists after the last year and half, but to serve as a positive ray of sunshine to anyone who wants to receive it that way. Even though it sounds like “Butterfly Face” and upcoming EP explore the same topics as Mess, this track already shows King’s growth as a musician and a relatable storyteller. WE are looking forward to seeing what exactly this new EP becomes and where Zack King plans to go from here.
