Singer-Songwriter Jeremy Voltz Embraces Emotional Nuance on Chill New Single, “Feel It All”
Burned-out mathematician turned indie-soul artist Jeremy Voltz creates music inspired by the people in his life and the honest conversations he wishes he had the courage to have. With a powerful voice and a sound reminiscent of Hozier, Cat Stevens, and Lake Street Dive, Voltz combines heartfelt lyrics with memorable melodies. He’s performed around the world — from Japan to Italy to the UK — and his live shows balance soulful storytelling with a warm, disarming sense of humor that makes every performance feel personal.
Voltz’s debut album Weekender won Album of the Year at the 2022 Ontario Folk Music Awards, and his follow-up Running Away earned national airplay on CBC and Stingray. His music has also appeared in major commercials and countless TV and film placements. His acoustic single “One Day at a Time” continues to resonate globally, surpassing five million streams and even inspiring a children’s book. With support from the Toronto Arts Council, Voltz is returning to his organic, rootsy sound with new music set for release in 2025.
“The song came from a rocky relationship with a friend, I tried for almost a year to distance myself and keep safe at arm’s length. But I realized that no matter how hard I tried not to care about my friend, I couldn’t stop. My anger had dried up without me noticing, and I even tried to cling to it so I wouldn’t have to care, because caring is hard. But ultimately, care blooms in spite of our best efforts.”

Inspired by a rocky friendship, the song explores that familiar emotional tug — wanting to stay guarded but realizing your anger has quietly faded, leaving only the truth that you still care. Voltz describes the moment the feelings hit him: he tried to keep his friend at arm’s length for nearly a year, but ultimately, “care blooms in spite of our best efforts.”
Uniquely, “Feel It All” is Voltz’s first release built entirely on an Akai MPC, a creative shift sparked by J Dilla’s influence on D’Angelo’s music. Instead of his usual lyric-first process, the beat came first and the emotions followed immediately. Backed by the Toronto Arts Council, Voltz continues his 2025 return to organic, soul-rooted storytelling — writing songs that hold space for the complicated conversations, honest emotions, and quiet vulnerabilities we often struggle to put into words.
