Romero Drop Edit of Teamworx, Mr. Sid & George Z “Techno” 200 Drops in the Making

Not many labels make it to 100 releases, let along double that milestone. Kicking off coverage for this week we have “Techno”, the 200th Protocol Recordings drop from Teamworx, Mr. Sig, George Z, and Nicky Romero.  Romero is one of the modern producers to change and mold today’s electronic music scene how he sees fit. Not only has he founded one of the most prolific modern electronic music movements, but he is also constantly on DJ Mag’s Top 100 list year after year and has attributed heavily to the global spread of electronic music. Romero continues to surprise us, even dropping a mini-doc series back in 2019 and multiple successful releases now that he’s back on the wagon. Hell, he even put on one hell of a performance at the London opening of the Call of Duty League eSports tournament!

Founded by Romero all the way back in 2012, Protocol Recordings has continued to push the progressive house genre forward into the flourishing modern electronic scene. With “Techno” being the label’s 200th official drop, it only felt right to have a few of Protocol’s brightest producers collaborate on the track, with label boss Romero at the helm with the final edit. Drawing from the club-friendly sound we were treated to with Romero’s Redefine EP,  Romero masterfully blends both elements of classic techno and trance to meld into a new amalgamation. The track may sound familiar, as Romero has already debuted it during his Avicii tribute set and the most recent Tomorrowland livestream.
