Rocker Andrew Thomases Debuts “Conscious Rock” Sound to Masses With Debut Single “Cure Me”

With how chaotic the world has been in the last two years, we aren’t surprised that it continues to influence the music we have today. On our latest peek into the indie music world we are checking out “Cure Me” the debut single from singer/songwriter Andrew Thomases. An avid lifelong lover of music, Thomases grew up in New York City and watched as his father pursued his passion for bass guitar. Finally picking up his own guitar at the age of 12, Thomases would go on to play in multiple cover bands and perform as a DJ up until after college, when he decided to move across the country to San Francisco. Throughout the move and ever since, Thomases developed a version of “conscious rock”, where he created music that inspired his move, life experiences, and his outlook on the role of a person/human in society and the world. After spending much time in development, Thomases has written 10 fantastic tracks that explore a wide range of socially charged themes and is finally ready to show them to the rest of the world.

“I wrote ‘Cure Me’ at the height of the pandemic, before the 2020 election. The song is written in the voice of our country, and it expresses my frustration with the then-current state of our society. It is a bit of a cry for help for the country. Despite all that was happening, perhaps something could cure society of the insanity.” – Andrew Thomases

Socially conscious music has been on the rise as the condition of the world continues to fall apart, but to use as your debut is a bold and appreciative move. Since the track was originally written at the height of the pandemic right before the election, you can relate to the chaos/madness that Thomases and the rest of the country are feeling. As a musician in need of a vehicle to express himself, Thomases’s variation on alt-rock, known as conscious rock, dabbles between indie rock, psy rock, the messaging of punk music, and finds a happy medium in the middle. Thomases pulls from popular guitar styles in the late 80s and 90s, bringing a bit of retro flair to his social aware sound and reintroducing modern-day listeners to styles that may have fallen to the wayside. Since this is Thomases debut single into the modern rock music world, you bet we will be keeping a close eye on Thomases, even if it is just to watch him grow his conscious rock style.
