Ottawa-Based Rapper 404vincent Channels Lyrical Prowess in New Drop “Booted Up”
If there ever is a scene where we need to keep a close eye on is the burguning rap and hip hop scene in the great white north. While we don’t explore rap often enough, this time we are checking out “Booted Up”, the brand new drop from Ottawa rapper 404vincent. Born in Mississauga, Vincent Gerard Vautour had an interesting childhood traveling the Canadian countryside with his truck driving father. After a series of financial setbacks found Vincent and his family in small town Kirkland Lake, Vincent beat the crap out of boredom and lost himself in the stylings of Drake, Frank Ocean, Future, and Tyler the Creator. After taking five years to solidfiy his sound, Vincent took a bet on himself and began working out of Ottawa desperate to fuel his passion. On his musical journey, Vincent’s brother passed away giving Vincent a new take on and purpose on why he produces music.
While we don’t normally dive into the rap world (to be perfectly honest it isn’t one of our main genres) sometimes an artist like 404vincent will drop a track that hits hard even with listeners like us. 404vincent channels whatever life event that is currently occurring in his life into pure energy, pure fuel to keep pushing his music to the next iteration. Partnering with producer Sleezefield of 808 Mafia, 404vincent found the right direction to push his creative force in and ended up with “Booted Up” For the most part, the track itself steps aside and scores 404vincent’s skillful lyrics with a distorted beat, letting the young rapper take center stage. Using “Booted Up” as the medium, 404vincent spits a brutal lesson that not enough people listen to, especially when it comes time to cut toxic people out of your life.
