NY-Based Musician Anna Shoemaker Closes Out 2020 in Style “Silver Cowboy Boots”
Relationships from the past, present, and future can affect all aspects of your life, yet it is how you channel that energy that matters. On another dive into the indie world we are checking out “Silver Cowboy Boots”, the newest single from Anna Shoemaker. Born in Philadelphia and now based out of New York, Anna found her initial break into the music world via her own Soundcloud mashup of Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” and Chance the Rapper’s “Cocoa Butter Kisses”. Now with almost 900k streams online, the track caught the eye of fashion mogul Steve Madden, who recruited Anna to his label. While Anna received a dose of praise when she dropped her debut EP East Side in 2018, it wasn’t until her sophomore drop Everything is Embarrassing released earlier this year that she popped on our radar. Spending the rest of 2020 casually dropping various singles, we can’t ait to see where 2021 takes Anna’s career.
“I wrote this song after my ex and I broke up for the second time. He seemed to be doing fine and I was still heartbroken. I was in the studio sad, hungover, and wearing these insane silver Fendi cowboy boots I had bought myself and was just like, you know what, maybe this is fine? “All that guy did was mess with me, these boots can’t mess with me. They match everything, they look sick, they never tell me not to work with a certain producer or rapper because they’re jealous, they never get in fights at bars and then bleed all over my apartment, they never block my number for no reason, they never laugh at me or tell me I need to be better on stage if I want to make it big. They just make me look good and stand tall and confident, and that’s really all you can ask for from a relationship.” – Anna Shoemaker
While she may still be rather early in her career, Anna is already showing early signs of a veteran musician. Her latest 2020 single, “Silver Cowboy Boots” was influenced by Anna’s previous relationship ending and how she dealt with her emotions after the fact. The track shows off Anna’s lyrical stylings, showing that there is much more under the surface that is open for you to explore if you want to dive further. What caught our attention is the track’s production, blending elements of modern RnB and minimalist electro to truly set the stage for Anna‘s performance. Already garnering support and praise from the likes of Billboard, Refinery29, Julia Michaels and Bishop Briggs, we will pay close attention to how Anna further develops her sound in the near future.
