My Mom Is Here Share New Single “The Lucky Dudes (Extended Version)”

From the start, My Mom Is Here has been built around live energy and a kind of playful seriousness. Seiff and Sare formed the band in 2023 after meeting in a jazz a cappella group at Columbia, and their very first show—on a Morningside Heights rooftop in matching “My Mom Is Here” shirts—set the tone for everything that followed: tight musicianship, a bit of humor, and a clear love for performing in front of people. What started as a duo quickly grew into a full band, but that core chemistry never really changed.

Since then, they’ve leaned into bigger arrangements and more ambitious live shows without losing that sense of looseness that makes them stand out. Their 2025 debut EP Baby Steps marked the start of that next phase, followed by their first US tour. Now, with their “Power Station” capsule, they’re pushing things further—reworking tracks like “The Lucky Dudes” into fuller versions and setting up a reimagined take on Steve Winwood’s “Can’t Find My Way Home.” It feels like a band expanding their sound in real time, while still sounding like they’re having fun doing it.

‘The Lucky Dudes’ is, at heart, a retro-leaning pop love song, but in the recording process it became something much more maximal and orchestral, When we made the ‘radio edit,’ we ended up cutting a lot of what made the session feel special, so the 7-minute version really showcases the live energy and lets the arrangement unfold.”

My Mom Is Here return with “The Lucky Dudes (Extended Version),” a seven-minute rework of their retro-leaning love song that opens everything up and leans fully into their live sound. Written by vocalist Samantha Seiff about her relationship with bandmate Nick Sare, the song captures that feeling of falling in love early and choosing to trust it anyway, even when it doesn’t quite make sense to anyone else. At its heart, it’s a personal story, but also a shared one for the band—about sticking with something because it feels right, even if it’s a little uncertain from the outside.

Recorded at Power Station at BerkleeNYC as part of a three-song capsule produced by Terence “T” Odonkor, the extended version feels bigger and more cinematic than the original. With horns, strings, and layered vocals woven throughout, the track stretches out in a way that mirrors how the band actually performs live—loose, energetic, and full of chemistry. Featuring contributions from a range of high-profile session musicians, it still keeps its emotional center intact, balancing polish with the kind of warmth and spontaneity that’s become central to My Mom Is Here’s identity.
